About the Hub
California's Centralized Resource for Building Performance
The California Building Performance Resource Hub is a centralized digital resource to support stakeholders across the state in achieving higher performance buildings and implementing policies, such as Building Performance Standards (BPS), designed to reduce pollution from existing large buildings.
The resources and insights provided here have been and continue to be built around the needs of building owners, residents, commercial tenants, workforce partners, local jurisdictions, and others working to meet California's environmental, health, and community equity goals through building policy and action.
Our Mission.
Bridging the gap between policy and practice by equipping stakeholders with clear, contextual, and role-specific tools and guidance. Visitors gain not only information but also the confidence and language to take their next action, whether that means contacting a local official, engaging a service provider, applying for incentives, or beginning a retrofit plan.
What We Do.
The Hub delivers practical, actionable building energy efficiency resources that help professionals achieve measurable improvements and navigate complex BPS requirements with confidence. We provide specialized guidance tailored to California's unique policy landscape, connecting users with expert assistance, financing options, and implementation pathways.
We serve as a statewide engine for knowledge sharing, alignment, and action, helping California scale BPS adoption, accelerate equitable retrofit activity, and model national leadership on climate-aligned building policy.
Who We Serve.
Building Owners and Property Managers seeking compliance guidance, financing options, and retrofit pathways.
Jurisdictions developing and implementing BPS policies with model ordinances and cross-jurisdiction collaboration.
Contractors and other Service Providers needing technical resources, compliance tools, and professional development opportunities.
Residents and commercial tenants seeking to understand how they can benefit from building performance improvements.
Community-Based Organizations advancing environmental justice through improvements to the built environment.
Peer Learning Collaborative.
The California Building Performance Standards Peer Learning Collaborative (CalBPS PLC) is a forum for more than 45 participating jurisdictions to work together with other stakeholders on equitable building decarbonization policy. The PLC also serves as an advisory group for the Hub.
Partnership and Leadership.
